Solid & Striped Opaque Campaign

It’s been a long winter, well for everyone not living in Southern Cali, but the end is in sight, which means that it’s definitely not too soon to start educating yourself on the 2018 swimwear trends, and one of our favorite brands, Solid & Striped, is here to help with that. Today, it introduced its biggest campaign yet, cleverly coined Swim Team. Featuring 13 major models wearing swimsuits that they designed themselves, each of which embodies the wearers’ personality and aesthetic. How awesome is that?

The incredibly chic campaign, which was styled by Carine Roitfeld, made it clear that Solid & Striped is paving the way for a major swimwear trend this season: white swimsuits. Each of the suits in the collection is available in a creamy white hue (among other shades). While we’ve surely encountered plenty of unforgiving see-through white swimsuits, this collection proves that the polarizing color can be completely wearable, flattering, and opaque. And given the brand’s trendsetting tendencies, we fully expect that white swimwear will be everywhere in a matter of months.

Check out a video and select shots from the campaign, as well as our favorite white swimsuits from the collection, below!

Michelle Salem For Inspiration

There’s a thrill we get from discovering anything “new” or “fresh” relating to fashion. I’m not saying the things I find are so under the radar no one knows about them yet, but if they’re new to me, I feel inspired, and the first thing I want to do is tell all of you about it!  While some of you may already know of Michelle Salem, brand manager of Opening Ceremony, it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I learned of her stylish existence and immediately felt cheated that no one had told me about her before.

One very aspiring scroll through her Instagram account left us with no other choice than to do a story dedicated to her creative and commutative sense of fashion, so of course we want to share.  As you can imagine, working for a company like Opening Ceremony opens your eyes and mind to a side of the fashion industry that’s particularly unique, exposing you to the discovery and freshness feeling of some of the newest brands, trends, and more. Michelle displays her breadth of knowledge quite well via personal style and the collaborations and launches she chooses to support on her own social accounts. Following Michelle will not only be gifting yourself with cool outfit ideas, but it will also keep you in the know on some of the coolest up-and-coming designers to watch, styles to try, and of course the items you should be shopping at Opening Ceremony.

We wanted to share a recent interview in the fashion world from our friends over at WWW Fashion. Who had the pleasure of getting to ask Michelle a few questions about her career, personal style, new brands, and more. From her creative go-to outfit formula to tips on how to develop your own personal style, it’s no secret that after hearing this interview with Michelle had us over-the-moon excited, a feeling most of you will likely share.

“One of my favorite collaborations! These are from the Opening Ceremony x Vans glitter drop, and they sold out within minutes. My best friend pictured felt very lucky that day.”

We hope you enjoy Michelle’s words of wisdom as much as we did.

You’re the brand manager at Opening Ceremony. Explain your job to someone who might not know anything about fashion.

“I wear a lot of hats at Opening Ceremony (which may be why my title sounds a little broad), but for the most part, I like to think of my role as three-pronged. Firstly I manage all of our events, then I lead on press/VIP communications, and I also chime on the creative for editorial shoots and content. One of the things I appreciate about being brand manager is that my tasks vary from day to day. My job is never boring!”

What is the most challenging part of your job? The most rewarding?

“The most challenging part is not being able to do everything we’d love to do. We get approached with so many opportunities, but it’s the team’s job to filter through what’s actually possible based on our calendar. There are only 12 months in a year! The most rewarding is personally bringing a new brand or artist into our family and watching them grow. I’ve been able to watch some DJs, photographers, and brands grow from something that started with something as simple as a DM. For example in January, a cartoon artist I really liked reached out to me on Instagram; she hadn’t ever worked with a fashion brand before. This month, we launched collaborative Valentine’s Day cards and embroidery options together. I always feel like a proud mom with projects like these.”

How did you initially get your start in the industry?

“I always knew I wanted to work in fashion, but I kind of let it fall into place. I went to business school for marketing, and during that time I interned for a PR firm, worked retail, and did the door at parties. The combination of it all meant I gained real experience at a really young age; it was sometimes a pain to work through the night after a long school week, but the connections I made paid off. When I graduated, I approached our VP of marketing at the time and explained what exactly I wanted to do and what I had to offer, and he agreed to let me help him. It was a risky move, but he took me under his wing, and I grew from there.”

Are there any new brands you’re excited about this year?

“That’s so tough because there are so many, so I’m going to speak selfishly here and stick to my current wish list. I’m excited for what Daisy has in store for this year; they’re amazing people, and I love every single piece they make. I’m also loving Poms for sunglasses. I just got a pair from its new season and could not have started wearing them any faster (couldn’t even wait til the snow melted). I think they have big things coming! I’ve also had my eye on Solarium Swim and definitely plan to get a suit before it’s warmer out; the tricky part will be choosing just one.”

Has working at Opening Ceremony changed or affected your style at all? If so, how?

“For sure—being surrounded by beautiful clothes all day definitely has an effect on you! Besides being pushed to look my best every day, I’ve also really developed an appreciation for new brands. OC is all about discovery, so while I still love Dior, it’s always exciting to pick up some pieces from a fresh brand in its first or second season.”

Speaking of style, can you describe your personal style to us?

“A cross between Charlotte York and Fran Drescher in The Nanny. Fran was a little more risk-taking, and I love that. She had Dior slips, sequin maxi dresses, vinyl Courrèges two-piece sets, heart-shaped wristlets, you name it. I feel like we could’ve shared wardrobes in another life.”

What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts to follow for fashion inspiration?

“Nothing inspires me than the ’90s supermodels and the shows and editorials that featured them. That said, some of my favorite accounts to follow are @naomicampbellonline, @thatbagisfake, and @virgomood.”

What’s one piece of advice you can give to our readers on really owning and developing their personal style?

“Avoid fast fashion and challenge yourself! Try finding small brands that make pieces you love, and if that’s out of your price range, go thrifting! I grew up in Miami, and on the weekends in high school, my mom would drive me to all of my favorite thrift stores—Goodwill, Savers, I did it all. I think the hunt and challenge made me pay more attention to details like fabrics, labels, fits. Not hating on high-street brands at all, but the joy of discovering the perfect piece for yourself after hours of searching will make you realize what you really love. This will also help you not fall for trends so easily. Did you really like that piece, or did you just buy it because it was $17.99 at H&M? You’re welcome!”

Do you have a go-to outfit formula?

“On a day to day, I don’t like to spend too much time getting ready, so a two-piece set is my go-to for looking like I put thought into my outfit (when really, it took me about two minutes to decide). I also have pieces that help me feel put together no matter what. For me, it’s about a pair vintage Guess jeans that fit like a glove, the right shoe, and a great bag.”

What’s one thing you’ve bought recently that you’re still freaking out over?

“The perfect vintage Versace dress! It’s mini, tweed, and about as close as I’ll ever get to looking like Claudia Schiffer during the Gianni era.”

Which spring 2018 trends are you looking forward to wearing most?

“I think the cowboy trend is something we’re going to see a lot more of in spring 2018, and I’m all for it. I have a pair of red boots with Western harness detailing that are crying to be worn. Also, bring on the pastels. I love wearing bright happy colors to pick up my mood, especially when it’s still 20 degrees out. Of course, the monogram trend isn’t going anywhere either, and luckily I’ve been collecting monogrammed pieces for years now (my bank account is thanking me for once!).”

We hope you enjoyed this interview as much as we did.

8 Spring Style Trends You Need In Your Wardrobe

We know you find fashion lady’s love your designers, wardrobe, and trends. We’re not exactly mind readers, but thanks to the designers’ Spring ’17 runways, we can paint a pretty clear picture of the coming months in fashion. These looks set the pace for a new season, and it’s going to look a little different from the style world as you know it. Prepare for bolder prints, more frills, and some serious wardrobe disruption. While minimalism has ruled, 2017 is poised to bring some big change to our closets. We did our homework and watched our fashion weeks very carefully to come up with the perfect eight spring trends that are not just perfect for spring, but for every season. If you can rock all eight trends for spring, you are going to be set with your wardrobe for the rest of the year, and let me tell you they are absolutely worth it to take a peak at and try out.

ISN’T IT ROMANTIC // 1

Ruffles, voluminous sleeves, and nods to the Victorian era made Spring’s most covetable dresses decidedly romantic, and a touch more dramatic than your average day dresses.

(1)Erdem Spring 2017, (2)Oscar de la Renta Spring 2017, (3)Fenty x Puma by Rihanna Spring 2017, (4)Alexander McQueen Spring 2017, (5)Preen Spring 2017, (6)Rodarte Spring 2017.

VACATION PRINTS // 2

Spring’s florals are bright, splashy, and on vacation. The saturated, tropical-feeling motifs find their way onto everything, giving you those getaway vibes, even when you’re trapped at home.

(1)Peter Pilotto Spring 2017, (2)House of Holland Spring 2017, (3)Rosie Assoulin Spring 2017, (4)Tibi Spring 2017, (5)Ports 1961 Spring 2017, (6)Altuzarra Spring 2017.

TRACK HAPPY // 3

Fashion’s obsession with athleisure is a staple for Spring, delivering a riff on your favorite sweatpants and track pants. Dress them up or wear them right to the gym; either way, you’ll be right on trend.

(1)Vetements Spring 2017, (2)Fenty x Puma by Rihanna Spring 2017, (3)Markus Lupfer Spring 2017, (4)Isabel Marant Spring 2017, (5)Paul Smith Spring 2017, (6)Versace Spring 2017.

OVEREXPOSED // 4

Come Spring, overexposure will be the new norm, thanks to bra tops and bandeaus putting midriffs on full display. Opt for a little modesty with a sheer top draped over top or a jacket left wide open to show off everything.

(1)Dior Spring 2017, (2)Prada Spring 2017, (3)Bottega Veneta Spring 2017, (4)Fendi Spring 2017, (5)Gucci Spring 2017, (6)Anya Hindmarch Spring 2017.

EARN YOUR STRIPES // 5

The classic print rules for Spring, but it’s got a contemporary update in knits, sheer fabrics, and even asymmetrical cuts. And if you prefer a more traditional look, you might just want to snag new suit separates with the must-have pattern.

(1)Chanel Spring 2017, (2)Monse Spring 2017, (3)Chloé Spring 2017, (4)Erdem Spring 2017, (5)Fendi Spring 2017, (6)Lanvin Spring 2017.

WARDROBE RENEGADE // 6

Rules are meant to be broken, so why wear a button-down tucked in and buttoned up or a bra top underneath your blouse? Designers are begging you to push the envelope with clothes that are meant to be layered unexpectedly and outfits that come deconstructed.

(1)Monse Spring 2017, (2)Carven Spring 2017, (3)Céline Spring 2017, (4)Marni Spring 2017, (5)Ports 1961 Spring 2017, (6)Giambattista Valli Spring 2017.

80’S GLAM // 7

Full sleeves, high shine, and body-conscious fit signal the return of ’80s glam on the runway, ready to pump up the volume in your closet.

(1)Gucci Spring 2017, (2)Tom Ford Spring 2017, (3)Balmain Spring 2017, (4)Elie Saab Spring 2017, (5)Isabel Marant Spring 2017, (6)Preen Spring 2017.

PUNCTUATED IN PINK // 8

Pretty and soft isn’t the way you’ll think of Spring’s pink palette. The color was a designer favorite, punctuating runways with its ironic sweetness or, sometimes, bold, saturated fuchsias.

(1)Givenchy Spring 2017, (2)Bottega Veneta Spring 2017, (3)Céline Spring 2017, (4)Prabal Gurung Spring 2017, (5)Chanel Spring 2017, (6)Delpozo Spring 2017.

Hope you enjoyed our Spring savy trends!

The Perfect Millennial Brand & Trend Pair

When Joyce Azria created her new brand, Avec Les Filles, she knew exactly the type of customer she wanted to cater to: the millennial. Joyce stated in a recent interview, “As a millennial, I really felt like no brand understood the way I shop and no brand addressed who I was as a customer,” And I’m sure every millennial including myself can agree with this statement, as such an individualistic generation begins to beautifully maneuver its way into the fashion industry. Joyce wanted to take an opportunity and show what trends she really thinks millennials love.

So what exactly are we loving right now? When asked Azria about the generation’s current favorite trend, she pointed to a playful look that’s perfectly in keeping with the statement sleeve trend of 2017: ruffles. Joyce stated, “This spring, I would say ruffled tops are a huge trend,” and she hit the nail right on with ruffle long-sleeve blouses, woven tops, and button-down shirts. Of course, Avec Les Filles has the perfect piece to test-drive the trend: the Ruffled Sleeve Top, which rings in at a reasonable $58, and also perfect match for the millennial budget.

Speaking of perfect prices, Azria was very strategic when it came to setting price points for different parts of her brand, exceptionally well for the millennials. Joyce stated,  “The clothing items are all at an entry price point of under $100, but the line does stretch up to $595 in the apparel collection. So it’s a high-low mix that’s really in line with the millennial girl and how she dresses.” We are obsessed with Joyce’s specific attention to detail with her brand’s target market and strategic pricing, providing what a true millennial young adult wants, specification. Its what our generation is all about, and on top of the magnificent individualistic emphasis on Avec Les Filles , have you seen these ruffle pieces? They are perfect for any #ootd and #ootn. We are truly obsessed.

Avec Les Filles Ruffled Sleeve Top ($58) This top is one of our favorites and fits in perfectly with the statement sleeve trend.

Aves Les Filles Elbow Sleeve Lace Top ($68) This sheer lace top is the perfect for parties and those outfits of the night, its form fitting and completely in the budget.

Avec Les Filles Layering Tee ($38) You can never own too many striped shirts, and this tee is perfect for layering a cute outfit when you’re going a million places in the day.

Avec Les Filles Jersey Wrap Dress ($68) Wrap dresses are insanely flattering, and go flawlessly with a edgy cut leather jacket.

Avec les Filles Dropped Lapel Gilet ($98) You’ll want to wear this to work every single day, and it literally goes with anything.

We hope you will enjoy Joyce Artzia and Avec Les Filles as much as we do, I guess it’s a millennial thing! Let us know your favorite pieces in the comment below.

The Denim Trend Changing the Scene

Whether you love denim or have a love-hate relationship with it, one thing’s for sure: 2017 will be the year of the demi denim trend. Thanks to Ukrainian designer Ksenia Schnaider, the skinny-meets-baggy jean style is gaining popularity. And if you ask us, the unique silhouette, while daring, is the perfect solution for those days when you just can’t decide between a slim leg and an oversize fit.

The bold design is part Bermuda shorts, part skinny jeans, and there’s a lot of distressing involved. The jeans sit on the natural waistline, flare out slightly in the front from the back they look like a straight-leg style, and are torn at the knee, exposing some skin. From the knee down, the silhouette takes on a straight-leg cut and the hemline is frayed. This jean style has cool girl written all over it, and we’ve already seen Gigi Hadid embrace the two-in-one layered look, so it’s only a matter of time (aka next month at New York Fashion Week) before our favorite street style stars take the denim trend to new heights.

Some Serious Trends, Guys are secretly loving!

The best thing about fashion is being able to dress completely for yourself, putting on what makes you feel your absolute best. However, getting an outsider’s perspective never hurt either and that’s exactly what the fashionistas at Who Wore What did. Who Wore What completed a survey of a handful of men and women on their perspective of what looks great to them on the female body. We were pretty surprised at the responses… the current trends they liked on women included ones like “statement sweatshirts” and “pantsuits.” Shocking, we know!

Perhaps, we’d underestimated the opposite sex’s ability to appreciate the finer points of fashion. Duly impressed, Who Wore What compiled the best responses and we thought we would share these trends with you. We think that you should not only applaud young ladies and men on the streets for their trend savvy suggestions but also you should invest in these trends ASAP. So get ready to see the shocking opinions of what guys & your fellow femme’s secretly are loving on you!

Either way its about what makes you comfortable, and what makes you feel good both inside and out. We hope you give these trends a go, and be careful not to break any necks on the way.

Winter Wardrobe, 5 Pieces For the Season

You know what we love about the seasons changing, and the cold weather coming in? Its not just the holiday spirit, pumpkin spice lattes, and getting to eat as much comfort food as you want. Its also the fall and winter style, our fashionista’s here at Find Fashion conform to a formula of moody colors and a classic coat as our everyday uniforms. However, this year we have noticed a trend. One that us even ready to change up our cold-weather wardrobes a bit. We have been pulling inspiration from the season’s biggest trends, and the bloggers styled fresh new looks using pieces that are not so typical for your everyday winter wear. We wanted to add these trends into our already loved formula to create a new and improved winter wardrobe our readers. So, with the help of some extra trendy bloggers and one of our favorite, Who What Wear Collections, we are showcasing two fun easy-to-wear outfits that you will have on repeat this season, all you need is five simple pieces.

The best thing about these outfits, you’ll probably already have some pieces lined up in your closet. We’re thinking new silhouettes and transformed metallics to really spice up your latte’s, as well as fall inspired florals and of course the beauty of the entire operation, yep you guess it: Velvet. If you haven’t already noticed, velvet is back and in full force. Dark ivory greens, and nocturnal deep blues are the perfect velvet colors to complete your snow season outfits. But don’t take our word for it, here are some babes that are already digging into these trends and exploring there five pieces to wonderland.

VELVET SLIP DRESS

If there’s one item you should be wearing this season, it should be a slip dress, specifically a velvet one. Not only is it on trend and versatile, the luxe fabric makes it super cozy too.

 screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-9-57-23-am

BELL SLEEVE TOPS

Give the term “arm party” a whole new meaning with one of the season’s most playful trends. When your basic top-and-denim combo needs an upgrade, take a cue from the runways and opt for a top with bell sleeves. The silhouette is right in step with the industry’s current obsession with all things ’70s-inspired.

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-10-02-44-am

METALLIC SKIRTS

During the holiday season, Find Fashion gravitates toward pieces that are equal parts versatile and festive. A metallic skirt can sometimes be over the top, but do your best to find one that is silver and only has a hint of sparkle, it has potential to be worn year-round.

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-10-04-48-am

RE-IMAGINED CARDIGANS

When you think winter fashion, you automatically think of coats. This season, however, we’re leaning on re-imagined styles like long cardigans that mimic details of a traditional coat but has a slimmer silhouette. We are really into layering, but sometimes it’s hard to do so when wearing something more bulky like a coat. An oversize cardigan gives you the same effect and more flexibility when styling a head-to-toe look and layering. Not to mention, you probably already have one of these cardigans laying around in your closet.

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-10-07-43-am

FLORAL MIDI DRESSES

Florals don’t have to be relegated to the back of your closet during the winter, just opt for a moodier hue and a longer hemline. Florals in the winter are usually of the forbidden fruit, however a more fall emphasized floral can seriously take the spotlight at your annual holiday party! A darker palette, many even some gold accents and BAM welcome to fall floral season.

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-10-12-04-am

We hope you are as into these five pieces for your seasonal wardrobe as we are. Spice up your classic go-to winter look with some of these pieces and be ready to make heads turn at your holiday shenanigans.

An Applause for the Queen B

Thats right, its another winner for the Queen B’s books. Beyoncé is releasing not an album but active wear this coming April 14. Beyoncé’s new active wear brand is one to seriously watch out for. The global superstar teamed up with Tycoon Sir Phillip Green to launch an active wear line better than ever. The stand-alone brand comes in 200 different styles, and will hit 50 countries worldwide, including Topshop, net-a-porter.com, and Hudson Bay. The collection is aimed at women who love to sweat, and equate physical strength with emotional well-being happiness. The collection is said to fit like “a second skin” with tons of built-in support and wicking fabrics that are designed for the long run. The collection is also aimed to perform in and outside of the sports arena, and for any kind of active activities such as yoga stretching or kickboxing. The collection is designed for all body types with sized ranging from XXS-XXL. Though, the team has not publicly spoken out on price points, the collection will be aimed at a high bracket.

Beyoncè released the annoucement with tons of social media posting on Instagram and Twitter, as well as released the youtube video with already millions of views. The video features Beyoncé working out in a park and a gym, with a voiceover by the singer talking about how her daily workouts help her stay balanced, feel good, and kick stress.

“I would wake up in the morning and my dad would come knocking on my door, telling me it’s time to go running,” she says in the video. “I remember wanting to stop, but I would push myself to keep going. “It taught me discipline, and I would think about my dreams. I would think about the sacrifices my parents made for me. I would think about my little sister and how I was her hero. I would look at the beauty around me, the sunshine through the trees. I would keep breathing.” She talks about her fears and that her neighborhood park was the place she could always put them to rest. “Before I hit the stage, I go back to that park. When it was time for me to give birth, I went back to that park. The park became a state of mind. The park became my strength. The park made me who I am. Where’s your park?”

There are three legging shapes, made from a sweat-wicking, non-pilling, double-faced polyamide elastane. The three shapes — identified as the I, the V and the Y — have been designed to enhance a range of body types with signature seaming on each, all meant to elongate and flatter the leg. The core leggings feature inner contour shorts to smooth and support and each rise appears in three lengths, just under the knee; on the calf, and to the ankle. There are tank tops with built-in sports bras, seamless knits and bodysuits — fitted with fishnet sleeves for a glam touch — as well as logo sweatshirts, basketball mesh oversize T-shirts and vests, and three-quarter length parkas. The outerwear pieces have heat-sealed tape bonded holes for headphone wires. The color palette is neutral and slimming, and features cobalt, gray marl and black. There are also digital and reflective prints and embossed patterns in a honeycomb shape. In addition to the Ivy Park logo, the clothing features the number four — the date of Beyoncé, her mother and her husband’s birthdays, as well as the couple’s wedding anniversary. She is married to Shawn Carter, aka Jay Z. The “iv” in ivy is a reference to the Roman numeral four and also to the couple’s daughter’s name, Blue Ivy Carter. WWD broke the news of the collection in October 2014, and it was clear from the start the two partners had much more than a collaboration in mind. They immediately formed a 50-50 joint venture, stand-alone company, Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd., with its own staff and design team based in London.

We are so excited to see what this collection has in store, and what it will bring to the fashion world, and for that We Applaud You Mrs. Queen B.

The Best from Jacobs NYFW

To end New York Fashion Week, Jacobs took over the Ziegfeld Theater sidewalks included and put on a show stopping spectacle worthy of the days when the Ziegfeld was a hot ticket in the town during the 1930’s and 1940’s. If the red carpet and line up of real-life fans and step-and-repeat, by which models had to walk before entering the theater and stage-runway, were any hint, this was going to be big. The clothes were signature Jacobs. Messy, beautiful, punk, ladylike, shiny, grungy, grandpa, and glamorous all in one. A veritable soupcon of ideas pulled together.

There were tons of red-white-and blues done in jazzy sequins dresses cut with the seam peaked-shoulder, nipped waist silhouette from Hollywood’s golden age, or a sweet tomboy sailor pant worth with lace-up boots from the turn of the last century. But then he spun his time machine to the glamrock 70’s, with platform boots holding up a hungover-looking girl in red hot shiny leather pants a bow blouse and a varsity jacket with patches including the playboy bunny. Elsewhere, Old Glory herself was redone was a shiny leather jacket over a perforated leather skirt and red cowboy boots, Hello Texas! Each look was a visual treat, like unwrapping a gift and finding a surprise. Crochet lace dresses with outrageous feather details and debutante-pretty gauze gowns covered in flowers looked beautifully oddball. But more fun was the face of a model blown up and screaming -in fear? delight? Lets say both- that he printed over an opera cape (worn over a denim dress printed with tickets), a trim day suit and the skirt of Bette Davis -worthy looking.

Jacob’s is a student of history and fashion. Like the ringleaders he referenced in the shiny embroidered jackets he showed on the runway, he knows how to entertain- while still delivery some solid clothing. He loves humor and irreverence, and is really good at poking fun at fashion and celebrity… perhaps because he knows a thing or two about both. So yes, the night is pretty awesome- especially when the models were broadcast on a giant screen.
